Using Emergency and Offline Modes
This article explains how to use Emergency and Offline modes.
Emergency Mode
You can access the Consult Screen immediately in the event of an emergency by selecting the Emergency button on the login screen.
Note: Access to video conferencing is not available in emergency mode.
Enabling Emergency Mode
- If the Emergency button does not appear on your login screen it can be enabled in the settings menu.
- Click the settings
icon in the upper right corner of the screen.
- Select the Preferences tab and enable the Allow emergency login option.
- Click Save and Verify, then click Yes on the confirmation prompt to initiate a refresh which directs the user to the eNcounter home screen.

Using Emergency Mode
- To use Emergency Mode, click the Emergency button on login screen.
- Clicking the Emergency button will skip the initial patient data gathering steps and proceed directly to the Consult Screen
- When in Emergency mode, the username is displayed as “Emergency” and any patient data gathered during the consult will be Anonymous.
- When a consult has been initiated using Emergency Mode, eNcounter will remain in Emergency Mode until the program is closed and relaunched using the desktop icon.
Offline Mode
When the user’s workstation does not have access to the internet, consults can still be performed using Offline Mode. Users will not have access to video conferencing in Offline Mode.
- To initiate a consult in Offline Mode, launch eNcounter using the desktop icon when disconnected from the internet.
- After eNcounter is launched the Consult Screen will be displayed immediately, no login is required. The consult username will be displayed as “eNcounter User”, and the patient profile will be anonymous.
- To associate the information gathered in Offline Mode with a specific provider and patient, the relevant details will need to be updated on the eNcounter Information tab found on the Write Report panel.
- When a consult has been initiated using Offline Mode, eNcounter will remain in Offline Mode until network connectivity is restored and the program is relaunched using the desktop icon.
